DNA Surname Project Welcome to the Future of Genealogy I have always wondered about the origins of my ancestors in Mexico. In 1998 I started "The Genealogy of Mexico" website with this in mind. It has always been my hope that information shared would lead us to the genealogical answers we seek. With new advances in science it is possible to determine our ancient origins and see who we are related to. Join us on our journey, Gary Felix Administrator of The Genealogy of Mexico DNA Surname Project *** The Genealogy of Mexico DNA Surname Project Forum. Come and discuss the Mexico Surname Project with us. How We All Are Related In the years just after the Conquest of Mexico, the Native-American population was decimated by disease and war leaving a relatively small gene pool of Native-American and Iberian ancestors. It is estimated that half the adult male population of Iberia set out to colonize two continents. Many of these early conquistadors set out to the Americas with relatives or sent for relatives upon settling. The ancestors of most of the current male genetic lines of Mexico would have settled in Mexico within a hundred or so years of the Conquest. This project will attempt to link us to these early conquistadors. Within each of us our ancestors have left clues about our ancient origins and our family lines. DNA Studies DNA studies on Mexican-Americans show a higher European admixture. *Anthropologist Andrew Merriwether and colleagues conducted a study on Mexican-Americans living in Colorado. Using classic genetic markers they estimated an admixture of 67% European and 33% Native-American. He further tested their mitochondrial DNA (mtdna) which is a test to find the origins of your great, great...grandmother, going back 10's of thousands of years. This one ancestor which is your families "Eve" so to speak, showed up as Native-American 85% of the time and European in origin 15% of the time. Thus showing that the majority of unions in this admixture were of European males and Native-American females. Other findings in Mexico showed varying results depending for the most part on what the cultural influences were on the population under study. *Source: What DNA Will Tell Us * With DNA testing today we can determine our ancient origins. This is done by examining DNA handed down strictly from father to son or DNA handed down strictly from Mother to daughter, going back thousands of years. These tests are called the Y-dna and mtdna tests respectively. * With the Y-dna test we can also determine if two people with the same surname have a Most Recent Common Ancestor (MRCA) within 7 generations, with a 50% probability or 23 generations (around the time of the Conquest) at a 90% probability. * We can determine if our surname goes back to the Conquistadors by comparing our markers with someone with a proven Y-dna line to the Conquistadors. * We can begin to put together the pieces of Native American lines which have been particularly hard to trace conventionally. * Now we can know if others on a surname message board are related to us or not. Genealogy made easy! * NEW! See the NBC Today Show segment on FTDNA (the company used in our testing) entitled Family tree project helps trace deep history. Follow this MSNBC news article to learn more. DNA takes on a family’s mysteries. How Can We See if We are Related In order to join the "Genealogy of Mexico Surname Project" and get a discount just CLICK HERE TO JOIN. This project is also open to those wanting to test their maternal lines that extend to Mexico. Everyone has mtdna from their Mother which can determine the origins of this line (Mothers Mothers ... Mothers line). Initially FamilyTreeDNA (FTDNA) had a database of about 130 tests from those of Mexican ancestry. These samples were part of Geneticist Dr. Michael Hammer's world wide database. These 12 marker tests were confirmed by SNP (Single Nucleotide Polymorphism). Since this time Hispanic participation has increased dramatically (into the thousands) In addition we can compare your results to over 2,400 hispanic YDNA records from public databases. The results of your testing will be used by FamilyTreeDNA for comparison on your FTDNA pages. FamilyTreeDNA stores your sample for 25 years. This makes ordering new tests easy. Click here for FamilyTreeDNA's Tutorial on the whole process as well as how to interpret the results. The Procedure and Results By painlessly swabbing the inside of your mouth, enough DNA is collected to determine where in the world your ancestral line goes back strictly from father to son. Your ancestral "Adam", with regard to your family line. There were one of 18 ancestors going back thousands of years, spread throughout the world that each of us could call our ancestral father. These 18 different ancient ones were the origin of each clan called a haplogroup (representing haplogroups A through R). List of some Y-dna haplogroups and their origin. For haplogroup migrations through Europe click here. Since part of our Y chromosome DNA is passed from father to son relatively unchanged for 1000's of years we can determine what haplogroup we belong to as well as narrow down the possibility of 2 people having a common male ancestor (12 marker test). Other parts of our Y chromosome DNA can change over a few generations (additional markers for the 25 or 37 marker test) thus narrowing down the search even more. For more on DNA Y-chromosome Testing. Check here for a Glossary of Genetic Terms. Frequently Asked Questions about FamilyTreeDNA's testing. When you get your results it will come in the form of four web pages. Click here for an example. * On the first page will be your DNA markers with an estimate of your haplo- group, based on the confirmed haplogroup of your nearest matches. * The next page will be the haplogroup(s) of your closest matches, the countries they come from and any further comments. Click here for an example. * The third page is called "Recent Ethnic Origins". This page lists the ethnic origins of the people who are your closest matches. In other words what areas of the world they come from. Click here for an example. from the Campbell surname project. * The last page is of your Y-dna matches and their email addresses, if a release form was signed. This page as well as pages 2 and 3 are updated every 2 weeks or so. You will be notified by email as 12, 25 or 37 marker matches occur. You will also receive a certificate with your markers and additional information. Your test results will be posted below if you like. You decide if you would like to remain anonymous or what information you will share. Additional surname tables will be created as necessary. For those with the same surname, marker matches over the first 12 are utilized by comparing yours with others, in order to look for more recent relationships. There is another database (Ysearch) incorporated into the tables allowing us to compare markers online. By clicking on the search buttons next to the participants name (provided the participant has posted their results) you are able to see the genetic distance between the participant and their closest genetic matches. For Ysearch those with a genetic distance of 3 or less on 25 or more "markers compared" is significant. According to FTDNA markers in red are fast mutating. Another study of mutation rates - Chart with Mutation Rates.

Chapa Jr, Amancio JoseWest European - R1b132414111114131213131328.............

..........................
Based on conventional research; the Chapa name in Northern Mexico (therefore most Mexican Americans) came from Juan Bautista Schiapapria b.1627. Juan Bautista Chapa (changed from Schiapapria) was an early settler of Nuevo Leon, Mexico in the mid 1600. These early settlers left the most progeny in Mexico. Chapa is an original name and its frequency in Northeastern Mexico is a testament to the success of his progeny. Source on Juan Bautista Schiapapria from "With All Arms" by Carl Laurence Duaine - Gary Felix

Based on conventional research; the Garza name in Northern Mexico (therefore most Mexican Americans) likely came from Marcos Alonso de la Garza y Arcon. Marcos Alonso de la Garza y Arcon was the founder of Monterrey Mexico in 1596. These early settlers left the most progeny in Mexico. The Garza name is rare in Spain yet it is as common in Mexico as Garcia is in Spain. This is a testament to the success of his progeny. Additional source on Marcos Alonso de la Garza y Arcon from "With All Arms" by Carl Laurence Duaine - Gary Felix

Based on conventional research; the Guajardo name in Northern Mexico (therefore most Mexican Americans) likely came from Antonio Martinez Guajardo (sometimes listed as Antonio Guajardo). Antonio Guajardo was an early settler of Monterrey Mexico in the mid 1600. These early settlers left the most progeny in Mexico. Source on Antonio Martinez Guajardo from "With All Arms" by Carl Laurence Duaine - Gary Felix.

"I have been doing extensive research on the Huante families and the baptisms in 1750 in Zacapu, Michoacan listed the child and parents as mulatos libres. So I think that the Huantes from that location are descendent from the black slaves that were introduced into Mexico in the 16th and 17th centuries. Later they were freed and intermarried with the indians and spaniards. Today the blacks from that time have essentially disappeared. Their descendants are essentially fair as are the current Huantes" - Dennis Moreno

New Trevino, RickNative American - C14251511111311131313113019080811122914202712121617
Based on conventional research; the Trevino name in Northern Mexico (therefore most Mexican Americans) likely came from Marcos Alonso de la Garza y Arcon. The Garza and Trevino Families have been linked through Marcos Alonso de la Garza y Arcon for over four centuries. Here is an example of how it was custom, especially in colonial times for a son to sometimes take his mothers maiden name as his surname. There is evidence of this throughout this website. Marcos Alonso de la Garza y Arcon was the founder of Monterrey Mexico in the 1596. These early settlers left the most progeny in Mexico. The Trevino name is rare in Spain yet it is as common in Mexico. This is a testament to the success of his progeny. Additional source on Marcos Alonso de la Garza y Arcon from "With All Arms" by Carl Laurence Duaine - Gary Felix

Haplogroup R1b. Most common origin in Spain and Europe. Oldest Ydna ancestor - Andres Villa m Daniella>Juan Jose Villa b.circa 1743 m Maria Paula Martinez. Juan Jose Villa, son of Andres and Daniella, a native of the Presidio de San Miguel de la Horcasitas, Sonora, was born circa 1743. Born at the presidio his father probably was in the military. From this presidio situated few miles north of Hirmosillo, Sonora, which was built to protect the colonists as they moved north from the interior of Mexico, Captain Juan Bautista de Anza started his long trek in 1775 to establish the proposed presidio and mission at San Francisco. In 1781, Juan Jose Villa was recruited by Captain Fernando Rivera y Moncada for the proposed Presidio at Santa Barbara. Because of the large concentration of native population in the Santa Barbara area, there was great concern for the many travelers who would be using the Camino Real. A presidio was the answer. He, his wife and son Vicente Ferrer Villa joined the other colonists and started on the second long overland trek across the hot desert following the Anza trail to Alta California. Contact: Marie

A Message from the President of FamilyTreeDNA to this Surname Project "One item for you to be aware of... If you are testing male members of the founding families of Mexico, especially the founding families of Northern Mexico, you will probably see a strong % of Semitic DNA evidence of Crypto Jews who were among the Spanish conquerors of Mexico from the 1500's. We have clearly seen these foot steps in the testing we have done to date." Best Regards, Bennett Greenspan President Family Tree DNA www.FamilyTreeDNA.com Why this Surname Project * Latin America custom is like no other. Surnames become irrelevant through time as many ancestors took the names from their maternal lines. With DNA we can find out what our surnames were. This project extends beyond our last known surname. * Markers 1 to 12 tell us our origins. Any markers over 12 must be compared to someone elses or they are useless. This project page serves to tell others about DNA research going on with various surnames of Mexico. This lets other researchers know they have someone there to compare with if they join the project. * This project often posts to message boards of surnames being research, letting others know of results that have come in. * This project also posts to forums, letting others know of the DNA testing that is going on with the surnames of Mexico. * This project's webpage is located on an established website that is over 8 years old. * This website averages between 200 and 350 visitors a day (see the traffic link at the very bottom of this page). This increases the chances of those knowing about the project. * This project webpage will inform us of the paternal ancient origins of those of us with ancestors in Mexico. This is done anonymously (see the ancient origins section of this webpage). * This project webpage will inform us of the origin of individuals with certain surnames as well as their migrations pattern. See the surname tables of participants sharing their results. * This webpage will help inform us of the testing process as well as answer any questions concerning DNA testing for genealogical purposes. * This webpage will show close familial relationships by comparing DNA markers. See the surname tables above. By sharing information we can piece together our family's history. The possibilities are endless! See the successes of other surname projects at the World Families Network . Analyzing The Results Ancient Origins - first 12 markers Something to consider is that your Y-dna results classify you under a certain Haplogroup. This means you share a more recent common ancestor with others in your Haplogroup. It is widely believed that a large percentage of the earliest settlers of Mexico may have origins in the Middle East and were a result of the expulsion of non-Catholics out of Spain, just before the conquest of Mexico. Did the early Iberian settlers of Mexico have proportionately different origins than modern day Spaniards?
What are the paternal origins of those with ancestors in Mexico? This table lists the origins (confirmed and unconfirmed) of those in the project thus far or others with origins in Mx. sharing their information. There are 481 total participants in the Mexico DNA project. We average more than one new participant a week since the project started on 9/7/03. The balance are waiting for their results, are mtdna testing or have not sent in their DNA sample. Updated 11/17/06 Haplogroup results are as follows:
Haplogroup or SubhaplogroupOrigin and DescriptionParticipant(s)
CNative American origin - associated with a later migration of Native Americans to the North American continent. Found among the Na dene people of the Southwestern United States and Central Canada. 01
E3aSub Saharan African origin. The most common origin among African Americans. Here is the migration of E3a (M2) on the National Geographic Migration map..05
E3bSemitic origin. Mostly found in the Mediterranean, Middle East, North and East Africa. 23% of Ashkenazi Jews 19% of Sephardic Jews have this origin. Romans of this origin may have brought E3b to Spain as well as the Moors. 10% of modern day Spaniards share this origin. Click here for more on Haplogroup E3b. Here is the migration of E3b (M35) on the National Geographic Migration map..50
GOrigins may have been the Indian subcontinent or middle east about 30,000 years ago, but are now found throughout Europe, the middle east and central Asia, all at low frequencies. Likely came into europe in Neolithic times. Haplogroup G is more frequently found in eastern Europe and is found less frequently in Spain than G2. Click here for more information on Haplogroup G Here is the migration of G (M201) on the National Geographic Migration map..03
G2Origins may have been the Indian subcontinent or middle east about 30,000 years ago, but are now found throughout Europe, the middle east and central Asia, all at low frequencies. A branch of G, G2 is found primarily in Europe and the middle east. About 8% of northern Spaniards share this origin. Click here for more information on Haplogroup G. Here is the migration of G2 (P15) on the National Geographic Migration map. 11
I1Nordic origin. Subhaplogroup I1 is believed to be 23,000 yrs. old and found throughout Europe at low frequencies. Here is an additional link on the Population Varieties within Y-Haplogroup I and their Extended Modal Haplotypes. 01
I1aNordic origin. Subhaplogroup I1a is found mostly in Northwestern Europe. Here is an additional link on the Population Varieties within Y-Haplogroup I and their Extended Modal Haplotypes. 02
I1bNordic origin. Subhaplogroup I1b is found mostly in the Balkans of Europe. This haplogroup emanated from the Balkan refugium after the last glacial maximum. Here is an additional link on the Population Varieties within Y-Haplogroup I and their Extended Modal Haplotypes. 01
I1b2Nordic origin. Subhaplogroup I1b is found mostly in the Balkans of Europe. Given that the ydna of our participants is I1b2 which is found mostly in Spain (6% of Basques in the Northeast of Spain and 14% of Castilians) and Sardinia it would appear this origin may have come from an ancient migration emanating from the Balkan refugium after the last glacial maximum. The populations of this haplogroup may be reminents of a migration on the European side of the Mediterranean both in somewhat isolated parts of Europe. Early migrations of man tended to follow the coasts. This group likely traveled with mtdna haplogroup H3 which also is prominent in Iberia and Sardinia. Here is an additional link on the Population Varieties within Y-Haplogroup I and their Extended Modal Haplotypes. I1b2 haplotypes typically have the following marker values: (393=13), (390=22,23 or 24), (19=15,16 or 17), (391=9,10 or 11), (385ab=11,12 or 12,12 or 12,13) and (392=11). Here is an example of one of these haplotypes in the HRD Database. Using the varous combinations of these markers, Germany may prove to be the homeland of I1b2 as shown in this posting on "The Origin of I1b2".11
I1cNordic origin. Given that the Visigoths (40,000 strong) conquered Spain after they conquered Rome and settled there since the year 507, it is likely this is the origin of subhaplogroup I1c in Spain. The Visigoths were of so called germanic origins of which 13% of modern day Spaniards are of this origin. There were later mutations of I resulting in subhaplogroups I1a and I1c. I1c is when marker 392=12 and 393=14 or 15 and found in approx. 2.5% of Europeans. Click here for more on Haplogroup I1c and here for more on the Visigoths. Here is an additional link on the Population Varieties within Y-Haplogroup I and their Extended Modal Haplotypes. Here is a possible connection to the Suevi and Visigoths I1c origins in Iberia.15
JSemitic origin. Haplogroup J is found at highest frequencies in Middle Eastern and north African populations where it most likely evolved. This haplogroup contains the Cohen modal lineage which is found in about 5% of those with this origin. 3% of modern day Spaniards have the J,J1 or J2 origin. Click here Y Haplogroup J or here for more on Haplogroup J. 05
J1Semitic origin. Haplogroup J1 is found at highest frequencies in Middle Eastern and north African populations where it most likely evolved. This haplogroup contains the Cohen modal lineage which is found in about 5% of those with this origin. 3% of modern day Spaniards have the J,J1 or J2 origin. Click here Y Haplogroup J or here for more on Haplogroup J. 09
J2Semitic origin. Mostly found in the Middle East. Mediterranean and North Africa. About 28% of Sephardic Jews have this origin. 43% of Ashkenazi Jews have this origin. 3% of modern day Spaniards have the J,J1 or J2 origin. Click here Y Haplogroup J or here for more information on Haplogroup J2. Here is the migration of J2 (M172) on the National Geographic Migration map..24
K2Origins in Eurasia, this linage is about 40,000 years old, This origin is very rare. One branch (K2) settled the area of the Mediterranean. In this study it was found in 10.7% of those sampled in the Cadiz area of Spain - Y Haplogroup diversity in Iberia. Thomas Jefferson was recently found to have been K2 - click here. 04
NOrigins in Northern Eurasia. It is the most common Y-chromosome type in Uralic speakers (Finns and Native Siberian). This origin is defined by the LLY22G mutation which shows it's origin and migration in Northern Eurasia acording to this National Geographic Migration map.. This site shows N3a (a subclade of N) is found in 0.6 of those sampled in Seville Y Haplogroup diversity in Iberia.. The book Evolutionary Genetics by Jobling states that ydna haplogroup N3 (a subclade of N) is suspected as being a haplogroup of the Native Americans.01
OOrigins in Southeast Asia. This lineage dates to about 35,000 years ago. Over 80% of today's East Asian population is haplogroup O, and this lineage is nearly completely restricted to East Asian populations. This origin is defined by the M175 mutation which shows it's origin and migration in Southeast Asia acording to this National Geographic Migration map.. 01
QNative American - this Haplogroup links Siberia to the Americas. There were three migrations, with the first believed to be around 80 individuals. Native Americans traveled the furthest from mankind's origin in Africa. Click here for more information on Haplogroup Q. Here is the migration of Q (M242) on the National Geographic Migration map..13
Q3Haplogroup Q3 is the only lineage strictly associated with Native American populations. About 8 to 12 thousand years ago a mutation called M3 occurred within the Q haplogroup defining the Q3. This mutation likely occurred in the Americas. For more information on Haplogroup Q3. Native Americans traveled the furthest from mankind's origin in Africa. Here is the migration of Q3 (M3) on the National Geographic Migration map..27
R1aEastern European origin. This lineage is believed to have originated in the Eurasian Steppes north of the Black & Caspian Seas. This linage is thought to descend from the Kurgen culture which domesticated the horse and were the first Indo European speakers. Here is the migration of R1a1 (M17) on the National Geographic Migration map..05
R1b or R1b3*Western European origin. This lineage is also the haplogroup containing the Atlantic modal haplotype. Celtic people belong to this Haplogroup and they were among the earliest settlers of Spain. 68% of modern day Spaniards share this origin. The following markers are common to the people bordering Europe's Atlantic within a couple of steps; DYS19 (DYS394)=14, DYS388=12, DYS390=24, DYS391=11, DYS392=13 and DYS393=13. Recent Origins - 25 or 37 marker test For genealogical purposes it is important to look at 23 to 37 marker matches. Since it was the custom in latin america to sometimes take a surname from the maternal side, geography comes into play. Some may match other surnames and one of the ways to narrow down a closer familial relationship is by looking at common geography. This is the reason this project is only open to those who's Y-dna line is from Mexico. If geography is not common such as in a person from Mexico matching all 25 markers with someone from Argentina then the relation- ship may not likely be recent. This type of result may show a common ancestor before surnames came about, around the thirteenth century or thereabouts. There is also different DNA results among those sharing the same surname for the same reason. Some time ago an ancestor may have taken the name of a maternal ancestor to honor their mother or because it was more prominent at the time or for another reason. The Founders

The Garza and Trevino families have been linked through Marcos Alonso de la Garza y Arcon for over four centuries. We are now seeing other surnames of founding families of Monterrey with the y-dna of Marcos Alonso de la Garza y Arcon. Here is an example of how it was custom, especially in colonial times for a son to sometimes take his mothers maiden name as his surname. There is evidence of this throughout this website. Luciano Garza and Dr. Arthur Trevino have traced their ancestry to Marcos Alonso de la Garza y Arcon.

According to the book "With All Arms" by Duaine, Pedro de Salinas would be the earliest documented Salinas in Northeastern Mexico. He was in Cerralvo in 1635 had a son of the same name that said he was born in the realm in 1658. This would have put Pedro de Salinas the likely ancestor of the Salinas', in Nuevo Leon in 1621, as he was 37 years old when he made this statement. Later Don Javier Salinas (a founder of Mier Tamaulipas) married Dona Maria Rosa Longoria and had as children Maria age 16, Ignacio age 14, Francisca age 13, Petra age 12, and Francisco age 10 - Gary Felix.

To discover previously unknown living relatives. To determine migration patterns of different families. To see if similar sounding surnames are related. To discover how closely related all of us really are. To share this information with others so that we can learn more about where we came from. How to join this surname project FamilyTreeDNA offers a discount on their 12 marker test ($99 +P/H, the price of several genealogy books) and their 25 marker test ($169 +P/H) or the new 37 marker test ($229 +P/H) to those participating in a Surname Project. This surname project is open to all surnames with a Y-dna line to Mexico or the following states prior to 1848; California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Nevada, Utah and Colorado or any other territory that once belonged to modern day Mexico (ie. a citizen of Mexico or its area formerly know as New Spain). Since women do not have Y-chromosome DNA, they would need the assistance of a brother, Uncle or other male relative with the surname they are researching. In order to join the "Genealogy of Mexico Surname Project" and get this discount just CLICK HERE TO JOIN. Just decide on the 12 marker test or the 25 or 37 Y-dna marker test. The 25 or 37 marker tests are more economical in the long run. All tests show the group discount of $99 for the 12 marker or $169 for the 25 marker test or $229 for the 37 marker test. The test results take about 4 to 6 weeks from the time FamilyTreeDNA gets your sample. Note: if you don't have a 12 marker match with someone who has a con- firmed haplogroup; a Single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) test would link you to a certain haplogroup (origin). These tests are $100. This SNP test finds the mutation that defines your haplogroup. How to join this mtdna project This project is also open to those wanting to test their maternal lines that extend to Mexico. Everyone has mtdna from their Mother which can determine the origins of this line (Mothers Mothers ... Mothers line). CLICK HERE TO JOIN. The mtdna test determines your ancient ancestry along this line. New! Genealogy of Mexico Mitochondrial DNA Page. Y-DNA Discoveries The DNA of our origins point to a rich history we were not aware of. Most of our ancient YDNA (R1b) can found in the Basque of Northern Spain and Southern France. This makes sense as the Ancestors of the Basque were a Non-Indo European speaking people that were the first settlers of Europe. Therefore they would have left the most descendants in Europe. They were the first Iberians. Iberia was a refuge in europe after the last glacial maximum 15,000 years ago. During this time people from other parts of europe migrated and eventually mixed with Iberians already there. Later there was likely a migration of paleolithic I1b2 (during Neolithic times) to Iberia from central Europe possibly with mtdna haplogroup H3. See "The Origin of I1b2". The Neolithic people of the Near East introduced domesticated animals and empire building crops (ie. wheat and barley) to Europe. These crops and animals were intoduced to Iberia about 6,500 years ago. These "Neolithic Farmers" would have been of haplogroup G, E3b and J origins. Their culture would have likely preceded their arrival in Iberia. Next the Phoenicians (semitic ancestors of modern day Lebanese), Greeks and Carthaginians (K2,J,J2,E3b) invaded and settled Spain along with a later migration from the Jews (J,J2 and E3b). Followed by the Romans (E3b,J,J2 and R1b) and Visigoths (I1c and the rare in Iberia I1b). The Moorish (E3b2) invasion followed although DNA studies suggest little impact on our YDNA as yet (about 5% of Spain's Ydna). In the mean time Native Americans (Q, Q3) were migrating south in the Americas and settling in the Valley of Mexico. The Mexica (Aztec) were an advanced civilization that the conquistadors compared to the Ancient Egyptians. This was a civilization that had laws, libraries, zoos, government, royalty and schools of higher learning. *Mesoamerica is one of two locations in the world where writing is known to have developed independantly (*source "Guns Germs and Steel" by Diamond). A major purpose of this study is to bring family previously not known to each other, together. This has occured thus far with some of the more larger families such as the Villarreal, Trevino and Garza. Probably the vast majority of us if we looked back far enough would link to some of the numerous members of these families. Knowing our orgins and family lines ultimately brings us together. DNA testing is a very rewarding experience. I would encourage you all to know the truth about our ancestors. The truth is out there sometimes buried in numerous legal documents of the colonial period or deduced through DNA statistics or determining what makes sense from numerous points of view. This realization is liberating. We can be proud of the rich history of our ancestors. DNA testing has begun to help us know them! Find out about your family lines. Email me, Gary Felix at GaryF@pacbell.net if you have taken the test and you would like to post the results or have any questions about this project. Privacy will be observed upon request. The closer your DNA match the better the chance at saving a life. Join the Bone Marrow Registry. Read the story of Anissa Ayala. Of all the things done in life the most honorable is saving a life. I have been on the registry for 8 years and await the honor.
