Escobedo - Two of the earliest arrivals were Diego and Juan both from Sevilla. Diego
arrived in 1524 conquered parts of Mexico and in 1536 married the widow of the
Conquistador Pablo de Retamales. Juan arrived in 1528 settled in Panuco and married
the daughter of the Conquistador Bartolome de Cuellar.

Gomez - In addition to the "Gomez" conquistadors already mentioned there was a Gonzalo
Gomez who was born in 1498 and arrived in the Indies at the age of 12 with his father.
At 16 he was in Central America and in 1524 settled in Mexico. Gomez married and had
six children. One being a son by the name of Amador Gomez. While a resident of Michoacan
in 1536 he was investigated and brought before an inquisition for practicing the Jewish
faith.
